Sales Associate - Part Time Seasonal
Raintree Garden Center is known for our healthy plants and friendly service. We are looking for someone who loves plants and has a good attitude and a strong work ethic. Home garden experience is a plus. The job is seasonal April - June (some hours in July). The hours are flexible but will include some weekends. We sell most of our plants in May so it is very busy; we need people who can work well under pressure. We respect our employees and provide a safe working environment with no yelling or swearing (exceptions if you drop something on your foot). The job may include some plant care and general greenhouse work as well as retail sales.
If you have commercial greenhouse experience pay is negotiable.
Are you an active senior with garden experience? You are encouraged to apply! We seek to have a knowledgeable and friendly staff. Your experience is valuable and we are willing to do shorter shifts and some physical accommodations to have you on our team.
Applicants must be available at least 3 days a week. This part time position is 20-30 hours a week. We are very flexible on schedule but need a commitment to work 3 of the 4 weekends in May.
Responsibilities
- Provide gardening advice and help customers find the plant or product that best meets their needs
- Ability to run a cash register and make change in fast paced environment
- Clean up, sweep and maintain an attractive environment for our customers
- Transplant, move, trim and water plants if needed
Qualifications
- Love plants
- Retail cashier experience
- Garden/Plant knowledge
- Ability to work on your feet all day - walking and carrying
- Ability to learn quickly and follow directions
- Ability to work in hot humid conditions
- Ability to lift and carry 10-25# , it is a plus if you can lift 50 lb occasionally
- A plus if you have greenhouse experience or extensive at home garden experience
